On Monday, a historic flight took place. 117 years ago, the Wright brothers made the first flight on planet Earth. Now it was the first flight on the planet Mars with the small helicopter Ingenuity (roughly “ingenuity”), which accompanied the Mars rover (“endurance”). On Thursday, it made a second flight. It opens up new ways to explore the red planet in the future.
Perseverance also conducted an experiment to convert carbon dioxide from Mars’ atmosphere into oxygen, something that future astronauts will benefit from as they will not have to take all the oxygen from Earth. A good space week then.
