Finally strong measures for school !
This is what we must remember from the hot educational news of recent days, marked by PISA results of 15-year-old French studentsand the announcements of Gabriel Attal.
Of course, France’s PISA results are in free fall, and we expected that…
…But the good news is glimmer of hope lit by the Minister of National Education!
Gabriel Attal wants to take the bull by the horns, and get our School back on track.
The common sense measures announced by the minister are in line with those proposed for a long time by SOS Education, and we can only rejoice.
It’s a real political willwhich we had not seen in France for decades.
Obviously, and you know it as well as I, there is work…
Implementation will be difficult, as successive governments have let the School sink!
But today we sincerely hope the return of a School that educatesto rebuild the future of France and save future generations.
In just 3 days, I spoke 5 times on high-audience media to analyze the situation on behalf of SOS Education : Europe 1, Figaro Live, Le Figaro TV and CNews (in the Midi News show on Wednesday, and in that on Friday)!

First intervention:
Figaro Live, December 5, 2023
On Figaro Live, on Thibaut Gauthier’s microphone, I was able to comment and directly Gabriel Attal’s announcements during his press conference, and in particular:
- The reinstatement of compulsory repetition
- The return to the forefront of mathematics
- The end of the single college, with the creation of level groups
- The end of note harmonization
- National Education taking charge of the content of school textbooks
I was also able to look back on the PISA results, with the significant fall in France, and the strong influence of the socio-economic level of parents on the educational level of children.
Finally I pointed the main absentees from the minister’s speech: authority and securitywhich our School really needs!
