Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Leonardo da Vinci’s painting, known as “Mona Lisa”, is one of the most famous works of art in the world, as it is famous for its beauty, the mystery of its personality, and the location depicted behind it!
The village of Ponte Buriano, a suburb of Artesia, in the Tuscany region of Italy, has been a source of discussion for centuries.
In turn, she believes that the bridge behind the Mona Lisa is the “Ponte Buriano” bridge, which prompted the village to make it a major feature of their local tourism campaign.
However, historian Silvano Vinceti says that the bridge behind the Mona Lisa is actually the “Rometo” bridge, in the town of Latrina, near Tuscany.
“The distinctive shape of the Arno River corresponds to what Leonardo depicted to the left of the woman in the famous painting,” Vincetti said at a media conference at the Foreign Press Association in Rome on Wednesday.
Vincenti also made a hypothetical reconstruction of the bridge to show the similarities, drawing on documents from the State Archives in Florence.

The Mona Lisa was painted in the early sixteenth century.
Vincenti explained that da Vinci lived near Latrina, between 1501 and 1503.
The bridge was then in use and consisted of four arches, as shown in the artwork.
On the other hand, the Buriano bridge has six arches, Vinceti said. The Ponte Bobbio bridge, which some believe appears in the artwork, consists of more than 6 arches.
Laterina Mayor Simona Neri, who attended the press conference, is excited about the claim, which could attract tourists to her town of 3,500.
She explained, “We really hope that this wonderful news will impress the local and foreign tourists, knowing that it will be a wonderful opportunity to relaunch tourism in our lands.”
“The remainder of the bridge must be protected, which will require funding,” Neri said, noting that there are funds available for most areas associated with da Vinci and other masters.
Da Vinci’s masterpiece, which dates back to the sixteenth century, is located in the Louvre Museum in Paris, where it is seen by millions of visitors annually.
Experts say the artwork owes its fame to the fact that it was stolen by Italian handyman Vincenzo Peruggia in 1911.
“There was nothing really special about it, other than that it was a good work by a very famous artist, until it was stolen,” Noah Charney, professor of art history and author of “The Thefts of the Mona Lisa,” said in 2013.
He continued, “Theft really increased her appeal and made her a household name.”
