Carmen, a hyper-luxury electric car, handmade and with a value of 1.5 million euros (1.7 million dollars) is the bet of the exclusive automotive firm Hispano Suiza to reach the Mexican market and may this be the gateway to conquer the American market, said Sergio Martínez, general director in the country of the Spanish firm.
The brand founded in 1904 in Barcelona, Spain, by Damián Mateo and Marc Birkigt, comes to our country from the hand of the first distributor Grupo Sanvi, headed by José San Vicente, with a view to having an exclusive version of Carmen, a model of which only 19 units will be manufactured for the world.
In an interview with MILLENNIUM, Martínez stated that the vision of the brand is authenticity and explained: “Hispano Suiza was founded in 1904 in Barcelona, our DNA has always been exclusivity, it has always been a handmade product; we are talking about sportiness, elegance and that is what anyone at any level wants to have. Without losing that DNA of 1904 in 2019-2020 we are convinced that we are transmitting that authenticity ”.
Considering that Mexico is one of the countries with a privileged position due to its proximity to the United States and Latin America, Martínez commented. “We are clear that because of Mexico’s proximity to Latin America we are going to achieve it, that is the strategy that from Mexico is our strongest point in the American market, because both in speaking and in culture we are sure that we will be able to transmit it” .
Selling cars in a market as competitive as Mexico and in the environment of the constant drop in sales for almost three years will not be an easy task. Faced with the warning, Martínez commented that “in the face of falls and weaknesses there are opportunities. Mexico is one of the most international countries, the decline is evident, but I think we can turn it around ”.
He stressed that Hispano Suiza has been the world champion of the electric formula, and with that endorsement of history and technology, is that they consider that even in a time of pandemic, the brand has a very good acceptance.
The fully electric Carmen model made its world debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, heralding the return of the iconic brand; Carmen, developed and manufactured in Barcelona, allows you to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers in just three seconds and will arrive in Mexico for Grupo Sanvi in April 2021.
