Hispanic mother confronts her son’s attacker in Times Square

A mother of a family confronted a stranger after he hit her 4-year-old son in the head for no reason while they were walking through Times Square.

According to Rafaela Rivera, she and her two children were walking through the popular sector last Thursday, when she heard a knock and then saw her son, Ángel Rivera, crying.

It was then that her daughter told her that a man walking by, later identified as 34-year-old Babacar Mbaye, had hit her brother on the head with a plastic bottle.

Without thinking, the mother reached the subject and grabbed him to ask for explanations. The man tried to free himself, but Rivera said he would not release him until police arrived.

“And he started to move and then as if he wanted to take me away; he didn’t want me to grab him. But I grabbed him and we both fell backwards. I fell on my back and he fell on top of me. But I I wasn’t going to let him go until the police arrived,” Rivera details.

Mbaye was arrested at the scene and now faces charges of assault, endangering the welfare of a minor and resisting arrest.

The subject has been arrested more than 50 times previously and his lawyer indicated that he suffers from mental problems.

Little Angel’s mother and her husband demand justice after their attack and ask for psychological help for the attacker.
