A 31-year-old Hispanic McDonald’s worker is fighting for his life after being stabbed in the chest, neck and arm amid a dispute at the restaurant where he works early Wednesday morning.
It was not clear what caused the fight, at about 12:35 am, in the fast food place located in Third Avenue and East 117th Streetbut police said the crime scene left trails of blood from behind the counter to the lobby.
Witnesses described the moment as horrifying.
The husband of an employee who rushed to the scene fearing his partner was in danger, told our sister network News 4 that he thought the argument involved an unruly customer, but police say that element of the case remains under investigation.
The restaurant was expected to be closed for some time.
The bloody stabbing at McDonald’s occurred just blocks from where a 19-year-old Burger King cashier was shot and killed, allegedly by a former restaurant worker, during an attempted robbery earlier this year.
