Prosecutors charged him with assault and impersonating a Hispanic man from Los Angeles as a doctor for allegedly performing cosmetic surgery on a woman without a medical license, the Los Angeles district attorney announced Friday.
Oscar Perez Latorre, 53 years oldwas arrested on Aug. 22 by Los Angeles District Attorney investigators but was released after the defendant posted $150,000 bail, according to prosecutors and jail records.
According to prosecutors, On July 13, 2021, Pérez Latorre performed cosmetic surgery on a woman without a licenseTen days later, the Hispanic treated the same patient for infections that developed as a consequence of the surgical intervention.

On August 13, 2021, Pérez Latorre had to treat the patient again for additional surgical complicationsaccording to the District Attorney’s Office.

“When a person poses as a doctor and performs medical procedures without a license, he or she not only puts lives at risk, but also erodes essential trust between patients and legitimate health care providers“, District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Pérez Latorre could face up to 10 years in prison if he is found guilty of the charges.
