The four suspects went to a Catholic church yesterday where they gave officials false names and made up a story about needing help to go to California, sources said, fueling debate over their release. The police believe that A total of 12 men were involved in the attack and five of them are still being sought.
Even the White House has expressed itself in this controversy, although without mentioning that these are undocumented immigrants who recently crossed the southern border.a situation that has generated a fiscal crisis in New York due to lack of federal support, according to Mayor Eric Adams. They have even circulated images of the suspects smiling and making obscene gestures at the press after being free.

“The assault on two NYPD officers over the weekend is absolutely unacceptable. The President (Joe Biden) is outraged for these attacks on law enforcement. “We hope these officers make a quick recovery while this attack is investigated.” spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre declared Wednesday night.
Hours earlier that day Democratic New York Governor Kathy Hochul suggested the attackers should be deported. “If someone commits a crime against a police officer in New York state and they’re not here legally, it’s definitely worth investigating,” he said. “These are law enforcement officers who should never, under any circumstances, be subjected to physical assault,” he added. “It is wrong in every way and I hope the judges and prosecutors do the right thing.”
Four of the suspects apparently left New York City yesterday en route to California, but His exact whereabouts are not clear at this time.. They had been released without bail after being arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court earlier this week. This measure does not prevent them from leaving NYC, but “If they miss their next court date, there will be a court order,” a source told Daily News, insisting on the police outrage over the release of the suspects.
The attack occurred Saturday night when police tried to break up a disorderly group outside the Candler building at 220 West 42nd St. near 7th Ave., shows a surveillance video released by NYPD. When two police officers tried to arrest a man in a yellow jacket, identified as Yohenry Brito (24), they were suddenly attacked by a group.
Both officers suffered scratches, bumps and bruises. in the attack, NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell said. Yorman Reverón (24), Darwin Andrés Gómez Izquiel (19), Wilson Juárez (21) and Kelvin Servita Arocha (19) were arrested at the scene.
A fifth suspect, Jhoan Boada (22), was arrested on Monday night. Brito and Jandry Barros (21) were also arrested on Wednesday, according to Fox News. It was not immediately clear which suspects left for California. Brito was the only suspect who was not released without bail.
