Our Annual Gala Party is just 10 days away, when we will celebrate and honor the women and men who serve the Hispanic community across the nation, and raise funds to continue and expand the mission of our Hispanic Federation and our member organizations.
The Gala, which will take place on Thursday, April 18 at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, has as its motto NOW, which means “Now.” The motto alludes to the fact that we are living at a critical moment in our nation’s history and that we must come together actively and generously to safeguard our most precious values: solidarity, equity, justice and inclusion.
This year, our Gala Party will be chaired by multi-award-winning writer, composer, singer and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda, who has supported our federation in many different ways over the years. And during the celebration we will also recognize with our Pride Award Jennifer López, another leading Latin figure in music, television and film with worldwide projection.
Mónica Gil is another outstanding Latina who will be awarded at the Hispanic Federation Gala. She will receive the Individual Achievement Award. She is the Senior Director of Administration and Marketing of NBC Universal Telemundo, and under her supervision, the Telemundo network has further strengthened its ties with our federation.
That night, Macy’s will also be recognized, because we will present it with our Corporate Leadership Award. It will be a more than deserved recognition, because Macy’s has collaborated with our Federation since 1999. To give just one example of that partnership, from 2022 to date Macy’s has raised about $2.5 million for the CREAR Futures youth leadership program and for expand our network of Digital Equity Centers throughout the country.
A third award, that of Community Service, will be presented during our Gala on April 18 to the Hispanic Center of Dane County, which for four decades has promoted and strengthened the growing Latino population of that county in the state of Wisconsin.
In addition to celebrations and recognition, a key function of our Annual Gala Party is to raise funds for our work and the many endeavors of our member organizations. We can all help, from those who buy tickets to the Gala personally or on behalf of their companies to those who make individual contributions that also help us help.
To make these donations, you can do so atprecious.
And finally – last but not least, as they say in English – I think it is fair to thank the various companies and corporations that support our federation and our Gala 2024 in various ways. I invite you to inform yourself here about them, because they do a lot for our community and our grassroots organizations.
