Two Hispanic businesses affected by the pandemic received financial funds on Thursday to help them get ahead in San José.
“Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have not had sales and it is very difficult to complete all the expenses that are made on a monthly basis,” said Alicia Infante, owner of the La Herradura business.
These funds, donated by the community and local businesses, were an initiative started by Rolando Bonilla, vice president of the San José Planning Commission,
“Although our goal is to raise $ 300,000, we saw that we cannot wait, so we started to release money between 20 and 30 thousand, they are the first, but we already have a list of businesses that this week will receive their checks with their first scholarships,” he said. Bonilla.
Mimi Hernández, spokesperson for Business Circle Latinix, said that many businesses have requested the help, however, they did not have sufficient funds so “we are putting (businesses) on the waiting list and we will be calling them when their check is available. ”.
Although not all establishments will be able to receive aid funds, they can choose other options.
“We have a board of directors called the Carte, we have a finance expert, a marketing expert so that he can reach new clients,” Hernández said.
