The spokesman of the coup militia controls 27 companies with different tasks, starting from petroleum services, trade and investment institutions, import and export, procurement, education and exchange.

Abd al-Salam studied religious sciences, under the guidance of his father, Salah Ahmed Fulaita, before entering formal education in schools in the city of Saada, then moved to Sana’a to study at its university.
He came from a poor family, lived in university accommodation with students from villages and rural areas, and returned to Saada and worked at the governorate’s court of appeals, before turning to the Iranian carpet trade.

He was arrested in 2009 and described at the time as the son of an elderly Zaidi scholar in Sanaa, before being released in April of the same year, on the orders of the late Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
