A driver food delivery person upset because he was not tipped even though he expected a little. Finally it abruptly canceled the customer’s meal order.
From the customer’s point of view, food delivery applications may make it easier for them to order the food they want. However, when viewed from the side of the food delivery service, sometimes this service is less profitable.
Food deliverers must be willing to spend considerable time and effort to do this. While the money generated from these services is sometimes not entirely profitable. Finally, not a few ojol drivers expect tips as an additional income.
Some drivers may not really mind this. However, lately there have been many incidents showing food delivery behavior that is considered impolite to customers regarding the issue of tips.
Latest, food delivery person from the DoorDash application went viral after uploading a video showing him refusing to take a customer’s food order.
In the video clip uploaded by the TikTok account @annawantsababy, the driver named Gary revealed that he found a customer who had no intention of tipping, even if he only made a small profit, around $2.50 (Rp. 37 thousand).
It is known that the customer ordered food from a sushi restaurant called Hi Sushi which appears to be in the United States. The customer’s order has also been purchased by him who will also continue his journey to deliver the order.
But his mind changed when he found out that the customer did not tip him. Gary also decided to cancel it and prefer to give this customer’s order to someone else.
“The customer orders sushi and I’m way over 12 miles away. They take delivery up to seven miles without a tip,” he says in the video.
His video post is also captioned, “No tip, no delivery.”
This video, which has been watched by more than 2.4 million people, has certainly caused debate among netizens.
Most netizens disagree with the driver’s action, which suddenly cancels customer orders.
One netizen commented, “He (the customer) has already paid for the food and delivery costs. He doesn’t have to pay anything else.”
“How can you cancel a customer order that has already been paid for,” said another netizen.
Not a few netizens also questioned the driver’s actions.
“Why did you even take his order?” said a netizen.
“Why don’t you choose not to take the order,” said another netizen.
While other netizens defended the driver by commenting, “I won’t place an order if I can’t give a tip. Gasoline is neither free nor time is free either.”
Topics related to tipping are often debated. It’s a benefit of service food delivery person it’s not that big, so not a few food delivery people expect more money.
