According to local media, relayed by the DailyMail, the mother of Nikolaevsk-on-Amur, 40, put her son on the balcony to let him sleep in the fresh air. She had to go find him a few minutes later. But she would have forgotten her son and could not remember where he was … It was not until five hours later that she found him. When she brought him inside, the baby was no longer showing “signs of life” and could not be resuscitated. The baby died of hypothermia.
Local authorities have inspected the scene of the death and will investigate what exactly happened before the baby died.
The BBC reported that the region’s health ministry then informed via Instagram that people should not leave young children outside unattended. “Always know where and with whom your child is,” said the ministry. “Children are more at risk in winter, they can quickly become victims of low temperatures.” He also said that children in the Khabarovsk region were more frequently victims of parental “ignorance” and neglect of “basic security measures”. During holidays, doctors have advised parents to drink less alcohol and to watch their children closely.
