Sing songs together, pray and seek hope in God. For many young people around the world, Hillsong Church found a new spiritual home. Among others, Grammy winner Justin Bieber.
But now dark secrets are coming to light from inside the mega-church.

What is Hillsong Free Church?
The free church is a so-called mega-church that was founded in Australia in 1983. Unlike in the “old” churches, this one organizes its services like happenings with emotional, unconventional sermons and live music.
This is particularly popular with young people. Up to 8,000 people are said to be attending Sunday service in New York City. The values of the church leadership remain extremely conservative. They speak out against the theory of evolution, the right to abortion, homosexuality and stem cell research.

Wild affairs
Behind closed doors, however, the hipster church apparently wasn’t much different than in the long-established churches or other sects.
In the newspaper “Page Six” volunteers unpacked that church employees are purposefully exploiting their positions to sexually enrich themselves in the volunteer. They’d sleep with roughly anyone off the tree at three and shamelessly ask for nude pictures.

Cases of abuse
One of the anonymous witnesses even described the Christian organization as a “breeding ground for uncontrolled abuse”.
He or she went on to say that several cases came to light as early as 2018. An employee was reportedly fired for this for “having had several inappropriate sexual relationships with several female leaders and volunteers. He was verbally, emotionally and, according to one woman, also physically abusive in his relationships with these women. “
Pastor fired
A few weeks ago, another scandal hit the Free Church. At the beginning of November became the pastor Carl Lentz (42) fired. He gained international fame through his close friendship with Justin Bieber (26). He was forced to leave the church after several women publicly accused him of molesting them. He had also slept with a number of young women in Hillsong Church.
A gross misstep, especially since the husband and father of three spoke very often in his sermons about love, marriage and, ironically, fidelity.
