Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Head of the Office of the President for Development Affairs and Families of Martyrs, honored the Sheikh Zayed Book Prize Winners in its 18th session, at a ceremony organized by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2024, whose activities continue until the fifth of this month at ADNEC Abu Dhabi Center.
The current session saw the largest number of applications in the history of the award, attracting 4,240 nominations, with the number of participating countries rising to 74 countries, including 19 Arab countries and 55 other countries.
His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan honored the winners of the awards in his various branches, namely the Egyptian writer Reem Bassiouni for the “Literature” branch, Dr. Hossam El-Din Shashia (Tunisia) for the “Young Author” and Dr. Mustafa Saeed (Egypt) for the “Young Author” Manuscript Editing branch,” Dr. Khalifa Al-Rumathi (UAE) for the “Development and State Building” branch, Dr. Ahmed Al-Samai (Tunisia). for “Translation,” German writer Frank Greville for the “Arabic Culture in Other Languages” branch, and the House of Wisdom Group for Cultural Industries in China About the “Publishing and Cultural Technologies” branch.
His Majesty also honored the “House Arab” Foundation in Spain, which won the Cultural Person of the Year award, in recognition of its role as a bridge between Arab and Spanish cultures, and its efforts in bringing into Arabic culture and language in Europe and Latin American countries.
