His grandmother RX-King will be revived using a bigger machine

Jakarta

Rumors from his grandmother that the RX-King would be revived surfaced in the Indian market. The last, the engine will be adapted to more environmentally friendly exhaust emissions with larger displacement.

The grandmother of the RX-King is the Yamaha RX-100, this is a motorcycle that has come out of the 80s. The two-stroke “bar” engine is the predecessor of the RX-135, better known as RX-King in Indonesia.

Yamaha Motor India president Eishin Chihana said he wants to bring back the RX-100 brand with a new, bigger engine. But with a design that is distinctly iconic to the RX-100’s identity.

“The RX100 name has a very strong feeling in the Indian market and is known for its performance, sound, design and attractive elements. So one thing is for sure, when we reintroduce the RX name to the market, we have to make sure we keep image that was created by the iconic model and we believe that introducing it with a higher capacity internal combustion engine can recreate the same impact,” Eishin Chinana said quoted by Zhigwheels on Wednesday (12/14/2022).

It is not yet known which engine will fit the upcoming RX 100 bike. Yamaha has 150cc and 250cc engines with a lot of technology. One of those machines could make its way into the upcoming Yamaha RX100.

Quoted by Cartoq, on Wednesday (14/12/2022) there is another possibility that Yamaha will target the Royal Enfields market with its iconic features of classic wartime motorcycles. With the RX100 look and modern engines from 300cc to 350cc, it will be an absolute weapon against Royal Enfield motorcycles.

It is suspected that the presence of the RX-100 will appear after 2026. This is because Yamaha already has a roadmap for a new bike until 2025.

On the other hand, the Yamaha RX-100 still has some real loyalists. These bikes were produced between 1985 and 1996 and are still in high demand in the aftermarket. Even after 26 years since the company stopped production. Many users keep the 100cc bike intact because Yamaha continues to supply spare parts until now.

So curious, what will the Yamaha RX100 model look like next?
