his friendship with the New York subway gunman

The American press echoed this weekend about the new friendship of R. Kelly in prison, who would spend a lot of time with Frank James, author in April of shootings in the New York subway.

Convicted last September by the New York justice of several crimes, including acts of racketeering, sexual exploitation of a minor and kidnapping, R. Kelly should know his sentence before August, and the opening of an even more important lawsuit in Chicago. In the meantime, the 55-year-old artist is still incarcerated, in pretrial detention, at the Metropolitan Detention Center, a prison located in the Brooklyn district. This is where the interpreter of the classic I Believe I Can Fly there met and recently befriended a newcomer behind bars, responsible for what could have been a huge tragedy.

A surprising friendship

This Saturday, May 14, the New York Daily News, citing 3 people inside the penitentiary establishment in which Kelly is held, explained that the latter now spent a lot of time with Frank James, the man who started a shooting on April 11, in a subway circulating in Brooklyn. Despite the fact that James is in another cell, with a fellow prisoner, and that R. Kelly is alone, the 2 men got to know each other and thus became friends. As a reminder, Frank James had caused panic and injured more than 20 by releasing the gas contained in 2 cylinders in a metro train, before opening fire. Fortunately, no deaths were recorded during this terrifying act. Despite this liability, the native of Chicago seems to particularly appreciate his discussions with his new friend, a way no doubt to escape a little and think about something else. Because whatever happens during his next trial, R. Kelly should spend very long years behind bars, if not all of the rest of his life.
