A major surprise last May for an employee of the Chilean leader in charcuterie: the transfer of his salary included a few more figures than usual… The sum of 165,398,851 Chilean pesos (nearly €170,000) came to be credited to his account instead of the 500,000 pesos (€515) he usually receives, reports the Chilean media Financial Journal. The delta is, to say the least, substantial since the employee thus received the equivalent of 286 times his salary!
Front cooperation
He quickly talks about it to his manager, who escalates the incident to his management, who herself confirms the gross accounting error and invites his employee to reimburse the overpayment. At first, he is cooperative and assures that he will go to the bank the next morning to regularize the situation.
But the next day, the hours pass, no trace of the transfer and – more worryingly – the employee does not show up for his post…

Resignation and disappearance
Finally, the company manages to contact him: he pretends to have a broken alarm clock and reiterates his commitment to get closer to his bank to return the unduly received funds.
Obviously it was only a maneuver intended to gain time. The employee, who has become fictitiously rich, will not have resisted the temptation to keep the money. He fainted in the nature, not without having taken the time and the trouble to write a letter of resignation… Not sure, that legally this parade is enough to block the continuations.
And lawsuits precisely, there will be, since the company should quickly file a complaint. It remains to be seen what the dishonest employee will have done with the sum by then…
