Hints in the new trailer for ‘The Mandalorian’: Will this ‘Star Wars’ villain return in Season 3? – Series news

The still-fresh preview of The Mandalorian Season 3 continues to fuel anticipation for new episodes of the Star Wars series. We take a closer look at the trailer and what it already tells us.

He has just plunged into the post-apocalyptic world of “The Last Of Us” as Joel when the return of the other major series flagship starring Pedro Pascal is already on the horizon: On March 1st, 2023 the third season of “The Mandalorian‘ on Disney+. A new trailer is already in the mood for the continuation of the “Star Wars” series and the next adventure of Din Djarin (Pascal) and his little protégé Grogu, but without anticipating too much.

FILMSTARTS YouTube moderator Sebastian took a closer look to summarize the preview of what we can and could expect in the new episodes. You can find his corresponding video at the top of the article, the short version below in the next paragraphs.

Dean Djarin vs. Dean Djarin Bo-Katan Crisis

For Mando, season 3 will include Mandalore. As we learned in the spin-off The Book of Boba Fett, he must wash himself clean beneath the mines of the Empire’s devastated Mandalorian homeworld in the Living Waters in order to be rejoined by his clan after being killed by the removal of his Helms violated his radical code.

A conflict with the Mandalorian Bo-Katan Kryze (Katte Sackhoff) initiate, who wants to rebuild the planet, but actually needs the legendary Darksaber to really rise to leadership. However, this is still in Din Djarin’s possession – and can actually only be acquired in combat. The trailer already indicates that there are conflicts between different factions of the Mandalorians, in which the warriors on the now flourishing world of Navarro apparently engage in a firefight among themselves.

Will Grogu become a Mandalorian?

Of course, the relationship between Din Drajin and the little rascal Grogu is still the main focus. After Grogu decided against Jedi training with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and a reunion with Mando in The Book of Boba Fett, the two continue to go through thick and thin. And that’s not all: Din Djarin seems to be increasingly teaching his companion the ways of his culture, too, so Grogu may well be on the verge of becoming a Mandalorian himself.

In addition, it will also play a role that “Baby Yoda” is becoming more and more adept at handling the Force and can now use it even against larger opponents without exhaustion.

In the course of this, we will certainly finally learn more about the past of the fan favorite, for which there are still many unanswered questions. What role did he play in Order 66 at the end of the clone wars, about which he apparently still has dark memories in the new “Mandalorian” season. And who then saved him from the Jedi annihilation order of the newly formed empire?

Is The Mandalorian preparing the Star Wars sequels?

The further role of the mysterious Dr. Pershing (Omid Abtahi), who also makes a brief appearance in the new trailer (on Coruscant!). Pershing may still be after Grogu’s blood for his research purposes. As we learned in the first two seasons, he’s working on creating powerful clones.

And of course that’s exactly what brings back memories of the “Star Wars” sequels and the return of the Emperor (Ian McDiarmid) in “Star Wars 9: The Rise of Skywalker” as well as his clone predecessor, the “Star Wars 7 & 8” villain Snoke (Andy Serkis). About dr Pershing’s experiments could possibly explain “The Mandalorian”, which is located between the original and the sequel trilogy, retrospectively that the Emperor has planned his clone return (very suddenly conjured out of a hat in the films) for a long time and how where Snoke came into being.

We’ll find out more from March 1, 2023, when the third season of “The Mandalorian” starts on Disney +.
