JAKARTA – PT Hino Motor Sales Indonesia (HMSI) made an interesting breakthrough at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2021 by presenting a bus with an aluminum body, the Avante H7 AB. The bus, which uses the Hino Bus R260 platform, is the result of Hino’s collaboration with the bodybuilding company Tentrem, from Malang, East Java.

The presence of the Avante H7 AB is believed to be a tangible manifestation of green transportation that cares for the environment. This is indicated by the use of aluminum instead of steel. The use of this material makes the Avante H7 AB lighter by up to half a ton than the same bus that uses steel material.

Of course, the lighter weight offers better fuel consumption and reduced tire life. This has a very positive effect on the environment where the emission level is reduced and the amount of rubber waste from tires decreases.

Not only is the material improved, the Hino Bus R260 platform also features advanced lubrication bore technology. Technology called oil gallery on the piston that works to perform cooling.

This oil gallery hole will increase the cooling efficiency of the engine, when compared to a bus engine with a piston type without an oil gallery. Because the piston is equipped with an oil gallery, 50% of the heat generated from the piston will be transferred to the lubricating oil or oil.

This makes Hino Bus R260 have an engine that remains stable and maintains its temperature, even though it crosses long toll roads such as Trans Java or Trans Sumatra with less oil consumption. “Hino buses have easy maintenance and are more cost-effective for bus companies. One of them is spending on regular engine lubricant replacements. This is the main attraction of our buses, which are in great demand by consumers,” said Santiko Wardoyo, Chief Operating Officer Director of PT HMSI.

Sementara Branch Manager Peace Anton Hastadi said that aluminum buses have many advantages. The bus will be much more efficient due to minimal maintenance and a much longer service life. “This aluminum body is rust-resistant, maintenance is minimal as long as there are no incidents. The use of fuel and tires can be saved,” he explained.
