Hilliard, Cron guide the Rockies over the Dodgers

DENVER – Sam Hilliard hit a home run line that produced three runs, CJ Cron had four hits and the Colorado Rockies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-5 on Wednesday night.

The Rockies snapped a five-game losing streak at Coors Field thanks to a win over a title-chasing team in the NL West.

The Dodgers would be at risk of losing more ground to San Francisco, the division leader. They started the day a game behind the Giants, who were visiting San Diego.

The Denver meeting was shaping up to be a pitching duel between two selected for the All-Star Game: Walker Buehler and Venezuelan Germán Márquez. Instead, teams combined 19 hits, including three home runs and even a two-run double by Marquez, which knocked his counterpart out of the game.

Luke Raley showed his power by rocking a two-run home run across center field in the third inning. The Statcast system calculated that the ball landed 472 feet from home plate, equaling the third-longest hit by the Dodgers since 2015, when this record was started with this technology.

Robert Stephenson (2-1) took the win for the Rockies. Reliever Justin Bruhl (0-1) took the slip.

For the Dodgers, Albert Pujols 1-0.

For the Rockies, Raimel Tapia 5-0. Venezuelans Elías Díaz 3-0 with one scored, Marquez 2-1 with two RBIs.
