Hiker finds rare mushroom in Castricum

The bishop’s hat is a poisonous gnat with a remarkably pleated yellow-brown to reddish-brown hat. Fresh bishop’s hats have two or three lobes with a ‘saddle’ in between. This makes them look like a bishop’s hat with a little imagination. The mushroom grows in Europe in the autumn and does especially well in mountainous areas. In the European lowlands, the species is rare.
