A 67-year-old hiker was killed in a nature reserve near Spaubeek when he was attacked by a herd of cattle. The Beek district closed the nature reserve after the incident.
The event already happened on August 10, but only now it has been revealed. A police spokesman is under pressure News L1 about “death from unnatural causes” that day. As this is not a crime, the police are not investigating.
The Vrouwenbos nature reserve near Spaubeek in South Limburg is partly meadow, partly forest. According to a witness, the patch of lawn where the 67-year-old man went for a walk with his dog that day was not opened to visitors.
“The entrance doors are still new,” the witness says. “Maybe the cattle in the area weren’t used to pedestrians yet.”
Limousine
She said the pedestrian was keeping his dog on a leash. “But when the dog mocked the cows, they came upon the man in a herd. They walked over him,” she said. The man was seriously injured. There was no need for resuscitation.
It is not clear whether, according to the evidence of the limousin breed, the cows had calves and were therefore showing defensive behaviour.
