An accident with a truck full of offal has caused major havoc at the Waterberg junction near Arnhem. The cargo ended up on the highway when the vehicle overturned.
The driver was on his way from Apeldoorn to Utrecht at around 2:45 am when things went wrong at the intersection of the A50 and A12. The truck shot through the guardrail and ended up on its head.
In the accident, the driver becomes trapped in his cabin. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being rescued by firefighters. reports Omroep Gelderland.
Traffic was severely disrupted by the accident, because the offal had to be cleared, the trucks towed away and the crash barrier repaired. The work is expected to last until 2 p.m. At around 7 a.m., traffic around the interchange was delayed by half an hour in both directions.
