A truck has lost a load of offal on the A67 near Geldrop. About ten tons of guts ended up on the roadway. The highway is closed in the direction of Eindhoven, Rijkswaterstaat expects the cleanup to take until about 2 a.m.

Just before 5 p.m., a truck with offal lost a large part of the load of about 10,000 kilos, reports Omroep Brabant. Dashcam footage from a passing car shows that the truck had to slam on the brakes when it ended up in a traffic jam, and then collided with another truck. The impact sent offal shot out of the top of the trailer, past the tarpaulin, and spilled over the driver’s cab and other cars.

The dashcam images of motorist Jeroen Hendriksen, who drove past during the collision:

Driver Jeroen Hendriksen was driving next to the truck when the accident happened. “At first I thought they were stones, because all I saw was something red,” Jeroen recalls. “But then everything ended up on my car. When I turned on my windshield wipers, I saw that it was about blood and pieces of animal.”

The highway has been closed since a quarter to five between Asten and the Leenderheide interchange, in the direction of Eindhoven. According to Rijkswaterstaat, the road must be thoroughly cleaned, the asphalt may also need to be repaired afterwards.
