The 6th China International Import Expo will be held in Shanghai from November 5th to 10th. At previous CIIEs, among the six major exhibition areas of the Enterprise and Commercial Exhibition, the technical equipment exhibition area has always been one of the most popular exhibition areas due to the high technological content of its exhibits. The sixth CIIE has been fully resumed offline, and the technology and equipment exhibition area has also gathered more cutting-edge technologies and high-end equipment, displaying the latest achievements in green, low-carbon, digital intelligence and other aspects of the industry.

The trend of intelligence is highlighted

Like professional table tennis players, the table tennis coaching robot can also hit high-quality topspin and backspin. At this CIIE, visitors can experience the table tennis version of “man-machine confrontation” at the Omron booth in the technical equipment exhibition area.

“Real experience” is supported by relevant intelligent technologies. According to reports, the eighth-generation table tennis coaching robot brought by Omron to the exhibition this year has further improved the mutual understanding between machines and humans. According to Omron staff, with the help of two-way voice communication, humans and machines can communicate training ideas, intelligently plan sparring plans, and improve users’ sports performance.

The trend of intelligence not only brings profound changes to sports training, but also directly affects people’s food, clothing, housing and transportation. Qualcomm will bring the third-generation Snapdragon 8 flagship mobile platform to further demonstrate the new experiences that 5G and AI bring to various terminals such as mobile phones, cars, and wearable devices.

Meng Pu, chairman of Qualcomm China, said: “We have participated in the CIIE for six consecutive years. We have displayed more diverse exhibits and have more and more partners in China.”

As a technology company, Sony has also participated in the CIIE for six consecutive times. Takeji Yoshida, President of Sony (China) Co., Ltd., said: “Sony hopes to leverage its business diversification advantages, actively participate in and help optimize and upgrade China’s industrial structure, and help China’s new productive forces flourish.”

  The green trend is surging

Promoting green and low-carbon economic and social development is a key link in achieving high-quality development. The CIIE stage has also become a platform for exhibitors to showcase their green and low-carbon plans.

The power semiconductors, carbon capture technology, and hydraulic equipment of large-scale pumped storage units displayed by the exhibitor Toshiba all have green and low-carbon themes. Visitors to the exhibition can also see a methanol hydrogen generator at Toshiba’s booth, which is a green power product developed and produced by a Chinese start-up using Toshiba’s stack and other technologies.

Takao Yagi, chairman and president of Toshiba (China) Co., Ltd., said: “Toshiba will continue to deeply explore the Chinese local market, strengthen cooperation in emerging fields, and bring more innovative products and services to Chinese customers.”

KraussMaffei, a manufacturer of plastics and rubber machinery, will showcase a series of solutions in the field of new energy vehicle manufacturing. Li Yong, CEO of KraussMaffei Group, said: “Through the CIIE platform, we will further understand user needs, continue to conduct technology research and development, and provide high-quality products, services and solutions for the Chinese market.”

Schneider, an old friend of the CIIE, will participate in the exhibition with the theme of “Innovation and Ecology, Accelerating Double Transformation”, demonstrating Schneider’s carbon reduction capabilities in an all-round way through zero-carbon application scenarios covering 14 industries. Green and low-carbon solutions are not only displayed in the exhibition hall, but also implemented outside the exhibition hall. In July this year, the third phase of Schneider’s Shanghai Kangqiao factory was completed, increasing the overall production capacity of air circuit breakers by 30%, helping China and the global power system accelerate the green and low-carbon transformation.

Yin Zheng, executive vice president of Schneider Electric, said that Schneider will use the CIIE platform to continue to deepen cooperation with ecological partners and work with the upstream and downstream of the industry chain to jointly promote green and low-carbon transformation.

The role of open cooperation platforms is further expanded

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, China’s first pilot free trade zone. At the first China International Import Expo held in November 2018, the central government assigned Shanghai three new major tasks, one of which was to add the Lingang New Area of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

The free trade pilot zone, the China International Import Expo, and opening up are key words throughout its development process. The technology equipment exhibition area of this CIIE also adds many free trade pilot zone elements.

Representative industries of the technical equipment industry such as integrated circuits and intelligent manufacturing are also key industries to be developed in the Lingang New Area. As the exhibition partners of the technical equipment exhibition area of this CIIE, the Lingang New Area Management Committee and Lingang Group innovated the exhibition model and set up a Lingang exhibition area with a total area of 2,700 square meters. For the first time, nearly a hundred companies were organized in an industrial cluster. Multinational companies participate in the exhibition, focusing on displaying new technologies and products of foreign-funded companies in the industrial park.

During the CIIE, in the Lingang exhibition area, the Chinese mass-produced model of Germany’s Inz Automobile will make its world premiere. In the field of hydrogen energy, Cummins, a Fortune 500 company, will showcase its fuel cells, hydrogen production devices and hydrogen storage bottles. Mercedes-Benz will showcase its remanufactured car engines. The US-China Clean Technology Center will hold the Shanghai North American Clean Technology and Carbon Neutrality Cooperation Summit in the Lingang exhibition area. 17 leading North American clean technology companies will conduct road shows and contact relevant park companies.

“Exhibitors in the Lingang Exhibition Area cover high-end ships and marine engineering equipment, high-end energy equipment, new materials, new energy and smart vehicles, etc., focusing on displaying the high-quality development results of foreign-invested enterprises in Shanghai, especially the Lingang New Area. ” said Yang Jing, general commander of the Lingang Exhibition Area and chief financial officer of Lingang Group.

The rapid development of the Lingang New Area of the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone has also become a vivid footnote to the role of the CIIE as an open cooperation platform. According to data from the Lingang New Area Management Committee, in the four years since the establishment of the Lingang New Area, the regional GDP has grown at an average annual rate of 21.2%, the total industrial output value above designated size has increased at an average annual rate of 37.8%, and the fixed asset investment of the whole society has increased at an average annual rate of 39.9%.
