Highlights from the Second Session of the Cairo Drama Festival

The looks of the artists participating in the second session of the “Cairo Drama Festival” caught the eye, as photos and videos of the looks topped the lists of the most popular on social media during the past hours. The distribution of the festival’s awards this year came as part of the activities of the “New Alamein Festival” held in the city of El Alamein, which is scheduled to end tomorrow (Saturday) with a party for the “Karaoke” team, after the success of their TV series “Revo” (the “Watch It” platform).

The organizers of the celebration honored the late Saudi businessman Sheikh Saleh Kamel, owner of the “ART” channel group, because of his great contributions in the fields of Egyptian drama and art. His daughter received the honor from the Managing Director and CEO of the United Media Services Company, Amr El-Feki, who emphasized in his speech the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s support for Egyptian art.

The award ceremony, which was run by the Syndicate of Representative Professions, did not witness major surprises, except that the jury awarded the artist Majed Al-Kadwani the award for best actor for the series “Family Theme”; While the same award was won in the audience category, the artist, Mohamed Ramadan, for the series “Jaafar Al-Omda.”

As for the artist, Mona Zaki, she won the audience and jury awards for the best actress category for the series “Under Guardianship” without competition, while the artist Hala Sidqi was awarded a special jury award for her role in “Jaafar Al-Omda”, which won all audience awards.

Hala Sidqi believes that awarding her a special award from this festival is a “great appreciation that came in its time,” telling Al-Sharq Al-Awsat: “The credit for my television and cinematic launch was given to the late directors Nour Al-Demerdash and Atef Al-Tayeb. As for today, I thank director Mohamed Sami, who trusted me in presenting the role of (Safsaf).

Regarding the second part of “Jaafar Al-Omda,” she replies: “There is no decisive decision yet, because we all want to do a good job that maintains the success of the first part, and even surpasses it.”

The festival management was keen to honor the pioneers within the ceremony, so the artists Rashwan Tawfiq, Lotfi Labib, Othman Muhammad Ali, Hala Fakher, Ahmed Nabil and Sayed Sadiq honored the director Muhammad Fadel.

And he stressed that the festival’s jury, which consisted of the artist Elham Shaheen, the artist Karim Abdel Aziz, the director Jamal Abdel Hamid, the scriptwriter Abdel Rahim Kamal, and the critic Tariq El Shennawy, “chose their lists very carefully so that all the awards come out in the best way.”
