Highlights from the Haugesund Film Festival: Winners, Awards, and Appreciation

Thanks to the actors

Ellos eatnu – Let the river live was the most nominated film with eight nominations. The film also ended up with three awards. Among them the award for best Norwegian cinema.

Ole Giæver also won the award for best director for the film.

– A director’s most important job is to make other people’s talent flourish, and I wouldn’t have received this award if it weren’t for the fact that I worked with so many extremely talented people, and then I would especially like to single out Ella Marie Hætta Isaksen in the lead role and all the other wonderful actors, said Ole Giæver.

Gard Emil Elvenes received the award for best male car role in the same film.

– Wow, this is big, said a moved Elvenes when he received the award. The actor also especially thanked Isaksen, who played the main role in the film.

Let the river live got dice roll five at the Film Police at NRK when it was reviewed last year.

– Special project

Kristoffer Joner presented the award for best female actor. Ruby Dagnall has also won the award for best female actor in 2017, and won again tonight.

– The film was shot in a week, a very special project. And I am incredibly proud of what it has become. Thank you very much.

– A little more important than other things

Pål Sverre Hagen won his third Amanda award when he was named best male actor, this time for one of Norway’s most expensive films, The war sailors.

– Okay, now I was a little surprised. Thank you very much. I can’t keep this one alone. Dear Ine, dear Kristoffer, I share this with you. This was like us. Thank you both very much, said Hagen when he thanked for the award.

Ine Marie Wilmann also won an award for her efforts in the same film.

Wilmann won the award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Cecilia in the film. It got dicethrow five when NRK rolled the dice last year. And Ine Marie Wilmann’s role was singled out as decisive for the film’s impact by the Film Police.

Minister of Culture Lubna Jaffery presented Amanda’s honorary award.
