Hockey

Tampa Bay – San Jose

The most productive Russian players of the game day were Tampa Bay Lightning defender Mikhail Sergachev and New York Rangers forward Artemy Panarin.

Sergachev scored two assists in the first period of the home match against the San Jose Sharks (6:0). Already in the second minute of the match, the 25-year-old Russian cut a precise diagonal to Brayden Point, and in the last minute of the first period, together with Nikita Kucherov, he successfully played a power play, which resulted in a goal by team captain Steven Stamkos.

Hockey

Edmonton – Rangers

Thanks to the score, Kucherov retained his place in the top five scorers. He has 11 points (6+5) in eight matches. It is also worth noting the second dry match in a row of Tampa goalkeeper Jonas Johansson, who repelled all 55 shots on his own goal in two games. The 28-year-old Swede is replacing Russian goalkeeper Andrei Vasilevskiy, who misses the first two months of the regular season due to back surgery.

Panarin scored two assists in the New York Rangers’ 3-0 road loss to the Edmonton Oilers, extending his season-opening scoring streak to seven games. In total, the 31-year-old Russian has 10 (3+7) points. After the game, Panarin was recognized as the third star of the match.

Hockey

Islanders – Ottawa

Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin did not take part in the match and watched from the bench as his experienced replacement Jonathan Quick recorded his first shutout for the New York team.

Another Russian goaltender from New York, Ilya Sorokin, who defends the Islanders’ goal, played an important role in his team’s victory over the Ottawa Senators (3:2). The 28-year-old Russian saved 45 of 47 shots on his own goal and won his third victory of the season.

It is also worth noting the bright debut in the NHL of 23-year-old Columbus Blue Jackets forward Dmitry Voronkov in an away game against the Montreal Canadiens (3:4 OT). The Russian spent just over eight minutes on the ice, but managed to score a power play pass to Emil Bemstrom, a fight and nine penalty minutes. Columbus defender Ivan Provorov also scored an assist in this match.

Other game day results

Hockey

Boston – Anaheim

The Anaheim Ducks beat the Boston Bruins on the road (4:3 OT). Anaheim defender Pavel Mintyukov scored an assist for Troy Terry, who tied the game 15 seconds before the end of regulation time and sent it into overtime. For the 19-year-old Russian, this is already the fourth scoring point in his first seven NHL games.

The Pittsburgh Penguins left no chance for the Colorado Avalanche at home (4:0). Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin scored with an assist to Riley Smith, who scored a double in the first period. Thanks to this victory, Pittsburgh rose from last place in the Eastern Conference – now Alexander Ovechkin’s Washington is there again.

Hockey

Pittsburgh – Colorado

Colorado goalkeeper Alexander Georgiev suffered his first defeat this season against Pittsburgh. The Russian reflected 20 shots on his own goal out of 24 and was replaced by compatriot Ivan Prosvetov in the middle of the third period. Prior to this, Georgiev had six wins in six matches.

The Philadelphia Flyers confidently beat the Minnesota Wild at home (6:2). Minnesota leader Kirill Kaprizov scored no points and ended the match with the worst utility score on the team – “-3”.
