In the morning show of DWW Radio, Minister of Welfare Wouter Beke advertised the auction of his portrait of ex-Chancellor Angela Merkel. A canvas he made to thank a departing German politician for her political career. Beke decided not to keep the work for himself or to give it to someone as a gift, but to auction it for the benefit of De Warmste Week. We will find out later today who will win the curtain.
Beke inspired Peter Van de Veire and Fien Germijns to get to work with brushes and canvases themselves, and to make a portrait of each other in the same characteristic Beke style. Or do they resemble their painted image? Judge yourself.
