Highest incidence in Schweinfurt: Corona outbreaks in families

While the incidences are falling almost everywhere and more and more regions are even reaching a value of zero, the seven-day incidence in the city of Schweinfurt is rising again. With ten more new infections, the seven-day incidence is now 86.1 and is thus again the highest nationwide. According to the city of Schweinfurt, the increasing numbers are mainly due to two larger families.

No link between affected families

Both affected families would live in downtown Schweinfurt and are already in quarantine. One family has been isolated since yesterday after self-tests were positive, the other family has been in quarantine as close contacts since June 8, As the city of Schweinfurt reported, no connection between the families has yet been established. Nor is any previous celebration known that could have triggered the infections.

The city emphasized that both families behaved very cooperatively. It can be assumed that the quarantine orders will be observed and that the chain of infection could be broken. If there are no further new infections, a rapid decrease in the current incidence value can be expected, according to the city.

Will the federal emergency brake soon take effect again in Schweinfurt?

The Schweinfurt trade association had threatened this week to file criminal charges against the health department – should the incidence figures continue to rise. According to the trade association, the insufficient tracking of contacts by the Schweinfurt health department is responsible for this. The trade association fears further business closings and losses for the retail trade. Because if the seven-day incidence exceeds the threshold of 100 on three consecutive days, the federal emergency brake will apply again on the day after next. That would mean, among other things: Gastronomy closed again and shopping only with an appointment and a negative corona test.

The mayor and district administrator want to provide better information

Despite the sometimes high incidences, the city and district had always spoken of a diffuse outbreak event. In the two most recent increases, specific sources of infection were named for the first time. Lord Mayor Sebastian Remelé (CSU) and District Administrator Florian Töpper (SPD), together with the health department, emphasized that they should do everything possible to break the chain of infection and to clarify even better: “Of course, the situation is primarily worrying for the families concerned, but also for them The whole city of Schweinfurt is the development unsatisfactory, we have only recently found ourselves on a path of relief, “it said.

In the meantime, the integration officer of the city of Schweinfurt has also been informed. He should try to elucidate further. City employees have been out and about with language mediators in the city for several weeks, among other things to help with the registration for the corona vaccination. The aim is to educate and sensitize families with a migration background in particular.
