As of today, a Saxon businessman has to answer to the State Protection Chamber of the Dresden Higher Regional Court for violating the War Weapons Control Act. The federal prosecutor accuses the 57-year-old of having helped a company associated with the Russian secret service to obtain goods that could be used to produce chemical weapons, among other things.

According to the indictment, the commercial entrepreneur is said to have brokered goods from a Chinese manufacturer worth around one million euros to Russia since 2017. He knew that these could be used to develop missiles and ABC weapons – i.e. nuclear, biological and chemical weapons.

In ten cases, the businessman is said to have exported goods without the necessary approval from the competent authorities and commercially violated the Foreign Trade Act. In another case, he is said to have violated a sales ban and acted for the secret service of a foreign power.
