The panels now cover about a quarter of the house’s consumption. “I currently have 2.2 kW installed and this year and last year I produced 1,200 kWh a year. I will still optimize the system and production will increase to about 1500 kWh, “Schaffer told Práva.
–
It uses batteries with a capacity of 3 kWh for accumulation, and has so far invested approximately 80,000 crowns in the system. According to the latest energy bill, it consumed about 4.4 MWh of electricity a year, so that the sun covered more than a quarter of its consumption.
–
The electricity from the panels will cover lighting, all electronics, an electric kettle, a washing machine and a domestic waterworks. It does not use it on the stove because it does not have a strong enough converter.
–
“The total daily production in the summer is about 10 kWh. Half of it goes to appliances, I stored the unused rest in the boiler, “he added.
–
Schaffer estimates that so far he has saved almost CZK 5,000 every year. The investment in the power plant he built would pay him back in 16 years, and the life of the plant is about 25 years.
–
However, due to high prices, he now expects this period to be reduced to five to six years.
–
This is because, until recently, he was a client of Europe Easy Energy from the Bohemia Energy group, which closed down in mid-October this year and, like hundreds of thousands of other households, entered the regime of a supplier of last resort and the price of electricity suddenly doubled.
–
In the low tariff he paid around CZK 2.20 and in the high tariff about 4.20 per kWh. But now kWh in the low tariff will cost about 5.30 CZK and in the high tariff at 7.20 CZK.
So he decided to buy more panels so that he would not be so dependent on expensive energy from the grid.
–
“I’m buying four more panels with a total capacity of 1.8 kW, which will double the output. The panels cost 23 thousand crowns, for which I buy a regulator for 11 thousand crowns, so in total it will cost 34 thousand, “Schaffer calculated.
–
He doesn’t spend any more money on work, he installs everything himself. After their commissioning, it will cover more than half of the annual consumption, and should produce around 3 MWh of panels per year.
–
However, he does not intend to buy additional batteries. “I will accumulate in the boiler. Batteries are expensive, 1kWh costs approximately CZK 4,500. “
–
He also did not delay the purchase of panels because they became more expensive. “Panel prices are starting to rise. About a month ago, a 330W panel cost about CZK 4,300, today it is already CZK 1,000 more expensive, ”he added.
