Higher education: FLSL and ENETP students demand to resume classes

The students of these two higher establishments ask for neither more nor less, than to benefit from a normal school year which is theirs in right.

If in the past, it was the students, through the Association of Pupils and Students of Mali (AEEM) who decreed strike hours, today it is they themselves who are calling for the resumption of classes. Because they feel the school year is threatened. Suddenly, their future is mortgaged.

This is why, this Tuesday, November 16, the students in solidarity with their comrades from the FLSL and the ENETP, following the appeal of the Secretary General of their association, organized a peaceful march. This march started from Kalaban-Coro to Baco Djicoroni, blocking traffic to road users.

ENETP students also suffer from interminable leave since last March. This is why they are outside and must return. Similarly, the administration of ENETP refuses to make this return, while the teachers are not on strike. “And the administration wants to put the 2019 and 2020 baccalaureate graduates together in the 2nd year, something which is unheard of at ENETP and also the non-opening of practical training workshops for ENETP scientific students” explained the communication manager of the AEEM.

Also, after having used all means of dialogue at the level of Professors, the administration, the rectorate, the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Prime Minister’s office, the two committees of the ‘AEEM joined hands to organize a peaceful march. According to those in charge of this march, it should lead the country’s authorities, the school’s partners, to resolve the problem. And to allow students to return to class.

Note that it has been exactly 4 months since FLSL students have not had access to educational courses because of the indefinite strike by SENSUP professors from said faculty.
