Like the strong mobilization announced by the government, in Lot-et-Garonne, the police will be omnipresent on the roads for New Year’s Eve, this Sunday, December 31, 2023.
According to information obtained by Le Républicain, there will be at least a hundred gendarmes on the main and secondary roads of the department, on fixed and mobile patrols. The three gendarmerie companies will be mobilized, including that of Marmande which deploys around forty soldiers.
Earlier in the day, a vast prevention action also took place with the distribution of breathalyzers so that motorists can self-test.
France still in “attack emergency”
Staff, intelligence, operators, road patrols and even reservists are ready for one of the busiest evenings of the year. Knowing that the number of deaths on the roads of Lot-et-Garonne has exceeded 30 this year, a sad record.
Across France, 90,000 police officers and gendarmes, as well as 5,000 soldiers from Operation Sentinel, will be deployed throughout the country for a New Year’s Eve event placed under high vigilance, as part of the “emergency attack” risk.
