CT values above 30 are considered free from Covid-19 or have recovered from infection. However, medically it is actually not that simple.

Internal medicine specialist dr. Andi Khimeini Takdir Sp.PD., said, there are many factors that will determine a person declared cured of Covid-19 infection.

“Doctors don’t only evaluate a person’s recovery and illness from laboratory results. So we need to see how the performance, the appearance of the patient. Another parameter is to look at the results of X-rays to monitor inflammation, if it occurs. In addition, the lab results from blood tests.

“So there are many aspects that must be evaluated before declaring a patient cured or having to continue treatment, not just looking at CT PCR,” he said.

He explained that a high CT PCR up to above 30 does indicate a good condition because the amount of virus in the body is small. However, he warned, the remaining dead virus in the body could leave “garbage” or traces of the virus so that it is not detected.

“You can’t use CT as a guide, you’ve recovered. We have to look at the whole new data. We say that this treatment is still continuing or you can continue activities. And even if you recover, you still have to wear a mask so you don’t get reinfected,” he concluded.
