High turnout in the by-elections in five settlements

Election day passed without serious violations

Partial local elections were held today in five places in the country. People vote in the second round for mayors in the municipalities of Banite, Smolyan, Troyanovo and Boyan, Burgas, Slavovitsa and Stezherevo – Pleven.



On the runoff in the village of Pleven Slavovica Galya Ignatova was elected mayor of the town hall. This was announced by Yordanka Ilieva – chairwoman of the Municipal Election Commission in Dolna Mitropolia, quoted by BTA.

Ignatova, nominated by the Bulgarian Citizens’ Movement, received support from 169 voters.

155 of the voters voted for the other candidate – Georgi Vaskov, nominated by GERB.

Turnout was 74.5 percent. The second round of elections in the village went smoothly, without signals of serious violations, said Ilieva.

Election day in municipality of Banite ends at nearly 70 percent turnout for a total of 3,598 voters. There they elect a mayor between the candidates of GERB and MRF, who reached the runoff. The elections went smoothly, BNT reported.

The highest turnout was in the mobile section, which today had to go around 59 addresses and therefore the election day for it started an hour earlier, by decision of the CEC.

The lowest turnout is in Davidkovo – 64 percent.

The election day passed without violations and with all necessary anti-epidemic measures The village of Troyanovo, municipality of Kameno. Dimitar Nikolov, nominated by the Initiative Committee, and Galina Hristova from GERB stood in the runoff.

According to the latest information, turnout there is nearly 50%.

The local elections are being held due to the death of the mayor of Troyanovo – Andon Nikolov, who died of a coronavirus.

With nearly 74% turnout, election day ended in the village of Stezherevo, reported “Focus”.

At 5.30 pm, 237 people out of a total of 358 voters had the right to vote. One sectional election commission was opened on the territory of the mayor’s office.
