High temperatures persist in Mexico City as yellow and orange heat wave alerts are issued

The weather in Mexico City will continue to be hot, but there will be a slight decrease in temperatures compared to the past few days. The meteorological authorities predict that the thermometer will reach 30°C. Unfortunately, there is no record of any rains that will alleviate the third heat wave, and as a result, yellow and orange alerts have been activated.

According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), this Thursday’s dawn in Mexico City will be partly cloudy with mist and a temperate environment. However, as the hours pass, an increase in temperatures is expected, creating a hot environment with increased cloudiness. There is no expectation of rain in any of the 16 capital city halls.

It is important to take precautions on this penultimate day of the week as northeasterly winds of 15 to 25 km/h with gusts of 50 to 60 km/h are forecasted, along with possible formation of dust storms. The maximum temperature will range from 31 to 33°C, while the minimum temperature will be between 14 and 16°C.

For those living in the municipalities of Cuajimalpa, Magdalena Contreras, and Milpa Alta, the yellow alert has been activated. Temperatures between 28 and 30°C are expected in these areas, with the most impact of the sun’s rays occurring from 12:00 to 19:00. It is recommended to use sunscreen, wear light-colored clothing, sunglasses, and a hat or cap. Prolonged exposure to the sun and eating on public roads should be avoided due to the intense temperatures.

Residents of Álvaro Obregón, Azcapotzalco, Benito Juárez, Coyoacán, Cuauhtémoc, Gustavo A. Madero, Iztacalco, Iztapalapa, Miguel Hidalgo, Tláhuac, Tlalpan, Venustiano Carranza, and Xochimilco must take all necessary measures as the orange alert has been activated in these areas. High temperatures ranging from 31 to 33°C are expected from 12:00 to 19:00. The same precautions as mentioned above should be followed.

What precautions should residents take to protect themselves from the extreme heat in Mexico City

Peratures is expected, reaching a high of around 30°C. This indicates a slight decrease from the scorching conditions experienced in recent days.

Despite the drop in temperatures, the city remains engulfed in the grip of a relentless heat wave. Unfortunately, relief in the form of rainfall seems unlikely in the near future. The absence of precipitation exacerbates the already intense heat, prompting authorities to issue yellow and orange alerts.

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) reports that Thursday’s early morning hours will bring partly cloudy skies and a mild climate characterized by mist. This offers a brief respite for residents, allowing for a more comfortable start to the day. However, as the day progresses, temperatures are expected to rise steadily, testing the endurance of locals amidst the unforgiving heat.

While the slight decrease in temperatures may provide some relief, the lack of rainfall compounds the severity of the heat wave. With no immediate signs of showers, authorities have activated yellow and orange alerts to ensure the population remains prepared for the challenges posed by these oppressive conditions.

As Mexico City braces itself for another scorching day, residents are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the extreme heat. Staying hydrated, seeking shade when possible, and avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight are essential for staying safe amidst these challenging weather conditions.
