High-Speed Electric Scooter Chase in Australia: Police Motorcycle Pursuit and Arrest

Police officers on motorcycles chase a man traveling at 100 km/h on an electric scooter on a highway in Australia. Footage from the camera of one of the law enforcement officers captured the spectacular race, reports the Daily Mail.

James Cole, 38, was spotted by police speeding his electric scooter along an expressway in Canberra’s east on December 23 last year.

Police officers on motorbikes approach the man, signaling him to stop. He turns several times and sees the policemen. Instead of stopping, the man turns into the bike lane and accelerates, narrowly avoiding hitting cyclists.

The chase continues for several minutes along the narrow alley. Several police officers on motorbikes ride alongside Cole. The race stops after the scooter hits the grass and the man loses his balance and falls. He immediately stood up again and tried to run away from the police, but they managed to detain him, bTV reported.

He apologizes and says he was late for work. After being tested, it turns out that he had taken drugs. After months in court, he pleaded guilty to the seven charges.

According to the rules, such a vehicle can go no more than 25 km/h, and its one charge is for speeding. His e-scooter was not registered, had no insurance and did not stop after being alerted by the police. His scooter was confiscated, the police said.
