High-risk care: caregivers without tests and quarantine

Around 60,000 caregivers work with high-risk patients in Germany. Most of the staff from abroad do not need quarantine or tests. And even if these are prescribed, it will apparently be circumnavigated creatively.

The government’s corona measures have one main goal: to protect high-risk groups to prevent death. Around 60,000 mostly foreign caregivers work in Austrian households with precisely these high-risk patients. However, if they come from Austria’s neighboring countries, they do not need a quarantine or a corona test. Entry and exit has been possible unhindered for weeks.

Caregivers from neighboring countries such as Slovakia, the Czech Republic or Hungary are considered commuter commuter traffic and are therefore excluded from the application of the regulation. The situation is different for caregivers from Romania, Poland or Bulgaria: because there is no common border with Austria, they have to submit a Covid 19 test or quarantine two weeks in this country.
