High Performance of Alajuelense was eliminated: What happened to the League of the future?

What happened to the League of the future? That is the question that locals and strangers ask themselves when reviewing the results of the quarterfinals of the U-20 category in the ULatina League.

Alajuelense will not be able to defend his crown in high performance, a title that is now a matter of four: Jicaral, Santos, Pérez Zeledón and Saprissa.

Inside the League they knew that this would most likely happen and that it is the price they have to pay for something that the result itself does not reflect, but which is their reality: the red and black faced the high performance quarterfinals with twelve casualties.

From the team that won the two-time championship in this category last December, Ian Lawrence, Brandon Aguilera and Carlos Mora are under the orders of Luis Fernando Suárez with the Senior National Team.

Incidentally, the national coach stated this Friday that although Lawrence tested positive for covid-19, he continues to count on him for the challenges that come for the ‘Tricolor’.

Aguilera played on loan with Guanacasteca and Dylan Bran played with Jicaral, so they were not with the League’s U-20 in this tournament.

Doryan Rodríguez, Bayron Mora, Santiago van der Putten, Sebastián Rodríguez and Josimar Alcócer are currently with the U-20 National Team that is preparing to face the Pre-World Cup that will be played in Honduras starting on June 18.

In addition to the soccer players who could not play because they were with the national teams, the team also has some injured.

This Friday’s game, the League faced Rodrigo Vega, Santiago Monzón, Jossimar Gómez, Jossimar Villarreal, Sebastián Hernández, Rashir Parkins, Freed Cedeño, Jhonny Salas, Kenyel Michel, Bryan Samir Félix and Yeison Cubero.

While on the bench he had Christopher Moya, Joshua Murillo, Javier Castro, Claudio Montero, José Andrés Matarrita, Matías Mora and Juan Pablo Ledezma.

In the quarterfinals of the high-performance ULatin League, Jicaral beat Alajuelense with a 3-2 aggregate.

San Carlos and Saprissa had the series 1-1, but in the second leg the Purples won 4-0 and advanced 5-1 on aggregate. Pérez Zeledón beat Guanacasteca and Santos did the same with Herediano.

For the high performance semifinals, Jicaral will face Santos and Pérez Zeledón will play Saprissa.
