High Number of HIV Cases Confirmed in Mesuji District: Prevention and Control Efforts Underway

Mesuji (Lampost.co) — A total of 41 people were confirmed positive for HIV in Mesuji District, Monday, 10 July 2023.

The Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division, Mesuji Suyono, in his office, said that the Simpang Pematang and Mesuji Timur sub-districts were the areas with the most HIV cases. “The Moro-Moro area in Forest Register 45 is the area with the most HIV,” said Suyono.

For toddlers, Suyono ensures that there are no confirmed cases because every pregnant woman has been tested for HIV.

“Toddlers are usually infected by the mother. And if it is known that there is HIV from a mother who wants to give birth, then we suggest doing an operative delivery to minimize transmission to the child,” added Suyono.

Suyono also admitted that his party continues to disseminate information to the community to prevent HIV transmission.
