The unfavorable opinion blemished. It is now up, announced this Thursday, January 7, the municipality of Briançon and the hospital center. On March 3, in fact, following a visit by the safety committee – led by firefighters and a local elected official – the Hautes-Alpes prefecture had issued “an unfavorable opinion to continue to operate ”the Briançon hospital center.

Fire safety pointed out
In question, a “situation of the hospital in terms of safety against fires which is no longer acceptable”. Various malfunctions, equipment or staff training were pointed out. A report which had led the management of Escartons to embark on an action plan and carry out compliance work.

An action plan to rectify the situation
This Tuesday, January 5, a new security check was carried out by the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis). “As a result, less than a year after the last visit of this same security commission […], it is now recommended to lift the unfavorable opinion of March 3, 2020 ”, jointly indicate, in a press release, the mayor of Briançon Arnaud Murgia and the deputy director of the hospital center Gérard Sécall.
“The hospital center has thus taken strong and immediate action, with the establishment of an ambitious action plan to bring the establishment into conformity following the conclusions of the report of the fire safety commission”, they assure. Both are delighted with “this decision comes after 6 months of joint work” between the municipality and the Escartons.
