As several foreign media recently reported, Real Madrid wants to sell Eden Hazard in the summer. However, a big question mark hangs over the success of this operation, as the Belgian plans to fulfill his contract with the Spanish club, reports The Athletic.
Confidence in the football skills of the 32-year-old player has long since faded at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. The transfer, which was once associated with high hopes, is now putting a heavy burden on the officials of the Madrid team.
The former Belgian international is financially quite problematic. The OSC Lille graduate is to receive an attractive salary, one of the largest in the entire “royal” team.
The Belgian was given several chances to show that he is worthy of a transfer fee exceeding the magical level of 100 million that Real paid for him in 2019. However, he did not use any of them. More and more officials and coaches were irritated by his approach and numerous injuries.
The Opta portal calculated that the 126-time representative has played in only 36.7% of possible matches since his arrival at the “white ballet”. So it’s no surprise that Madrid are dreaming of getting rid of the 32-year-old.

Fabrizio Romano has recently published reports that he plans to part ways with the club in the summer. The management of the team from the capital was supposed to meet with the player’s agent in an attempt to convince him to look for a new employer.
However, “The Athletic” claims that Eden Hazard has already made up his mind. The two-time English champion intends to fulfill his contract, which runs until June 30, 2024. And collect a huge salary during that period.
The Belgian is said to be mainly motivated by personal reasons. As reported on the website of the Madrid Football Federation (RFFM), his son Leo joined the “Los Blancos” academy some time ago.
Apart from that, the 32-year-old has no concrete offers on the table. Eden Hazard will thus follow the path of Mariano Díaz, Gareth Bale or Isco, who also preferred to stay at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu despite pressure from the club.
