High Incidence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever in Lebak District, Banten Province: Prevention and Treatment

Lebak (ANTARA) – The Lebak District Health Office in Banten Province recorded 285 cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in its working area from early January to the end of July 2023.

Head of the Lebak District Health Office Triatno Supiyono in Lebak, Tuesday, said that DHF cases were found in 25 sub-districts in Lebak Regency.

According to him, DHF cases were found in Rangkasbitung (85), Maja (33), Cibadak (18), Kalanganyar (17), Warunggunung (16), Cikulur (16), Sajira (15), Malingping (15), and Cimarga (15).

Dengue transmission was also found in the sub-districts of Banjarsari (9), Bayah (9), Cipanas (8), Leuwidamar (5), Cileles (4), Wanasalam (4), Sobang (3), Gunungkencana (3), Muncang (2) , Panggarangan (2), Cibeber (2), Curugbitung (2), Lebakgedong (1), Cijaku (1), and Cigemblong (1).

Triatno said that from the beginning of January to the end of July the DHF transmission did not cause death. However, his party appealed to residents who experience symptoms similar to dengue fever to immediately go to a health service facility so that they can immediately receive medical treatment.

“We ask residents if their body temperature is hot and cold for up to three days to immediately go to a health facility or hospital so they can be treated immediately,” he added.

The Lebak District Health Office is intensifying counseling on dengue prevention to reduce the risk of transmission of the disease.

Dengue hemorrhagic fever itself is caused by infection with the dengue virus, which can be transmitted through mosquito bites Temples of the Egyptians.

Dengue transmission can be prevented by intensifying the eradication of mosquito nests, by draining and cleaning water reservoirs, closing water reservoirs tightly, and reusing or recycling used goods.
