High Heat Causes 14 People to Faint in Sofia

“14 people fainted in Sofia for the day as a result of the heat from 08:00 to 19:00.”

This was reported to BGNES by the spokeswoman of the Emergency Medical Service – Sofia, Katya Sungarska.

The citizens passed out outside, in external conditions, she specified.

Sungarska explained that in the worst heat, the number of injured citizens is between 20 and 30 people.

“One of the reasons is the supermarket chains. The temperatures are very low there, people enter, cool down, then go outside and collapse as a result of the large differences between the temperatures outside and inside”, explained Sungarska.

She advises citizens to wear light-colored clothes, have a bottle of water with them, not to consume iced drinks, to refrain from going out during the hottest hours of the day, and not to overdo it with alcohol.
