High Five Charity Marathon 2022: Standing Up for At-Risk Youth

In 2020, Jānis Šipkēvics, Tautumeitas, Patrisha, Don, Aminata, Ralf Eiland, She, Jānis Aišpurs, Aija Andrejeva, Linda Leen, Intars Busulis, Carnival Youth, Evija Weber, Renārs Kauper, Māra Upman-Holstein, Goran Gora, Agnese Rakovska agreed “High five!” in the hymn “I know, You are”.

in 2021 for “High five!” the anthem became the song “Pāri visam” created by the association “Kreisais Krasts” and Buuu.

In 2022, “High five!” the anthem “Unbreakable” was written and performed by the Ukrainian musician Ivan Dorn, who was joined in the song by the “Riga Gospel Choir”.

The traditional “High five!” the anthem is one of the most donated songs during the charity marathon.

This year, public media is standing up for at-risk youth

Public media charity marathon “High five!” for the tenth year, it will take place shortly before Christmas, from December 15 to 21, broadcasting six and a half days, or 158 hours, from a special glass studio in the city, on Doma Square, Riga. This year, the organizers of the charity marathon invite you to exchange a 5-euro donation for your favorite song on the air of Latvian Radio 5 in order to help young people at risk. These young people are often called “at-risk youth”, however, the purpose of the charity marathon is to make society aware that young people are not a risk in themselves, but the inaction, irresponsibility and indifference of adults have exposed them to risks that society has the task of reducing, allowing these young people to take steps closer to a safer future.

Funds donated during the marathon will go to non-profit organizations through the Ziedot.lv charity, including the Samaritans Association of Latvia, the Resilience Center, the Youth Resource Center and others, which provide professional assistance to children and young people who are left without proper family and community care, who have suffered from violence and other crimes, face behavioral problems. The donated funds will provide them with the necessary support, starting with specialist consultations, purchasing essential items, and ending with the services of a trusted person or mentor. As every year, this year’s charity marathon will also be devoted to 100% of the funds donated to the purpose of the donation.
