High Dengue Fever Rate, 50 Villages in Karanganyar Asked to Actively Move PSN – Timlo.net

Karanganyar – Cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Karanganyar Regency have increased drastically in the last 5 years. Lack of awareness and participation of citizens in the Eradication of Mosquito Nests (PSN) is a factor in the increase in dengue cases.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Karanganyar Health Office, Purwati in the PSN movement. The declaration of the PSN Movement in Endemic areas was attended by 60 participants consisting of village heads and Lurah.

They were invited to discuss it at the Hotel Tamansari Karanganyar, Thursday (25/11). This activity aims to increase community participation in eradicating mosquito nests as an effort to prevent DHF.

“DHF cases in Karanganyar have skyrocketed in the last five years. The socialization of the PSN movement needs to be increased to suppress dengue cases,” he said.

He added that several sub-districts became endemic for DHF and there was an increase in the number of people dying from contracting the disease caused by mosquitoes. Those areas are Central Java, Gondangrejo, Kebakkramat and Tasikmadu.

“There are 50 villages and sub-districts that still have high dengue cases. Therefore, we hope that villages and sub-districts will actively mobilize residents in PSN,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Karanganyar, Juliyatmono, who was also present at the activity, asked the village heads and sub-district heads in dengue endemic areas to coordinate and invite active citizens to participate in the PSN movement.

“Always keep it clean. Don’t let puddles of water become mosquito nests,” he said.
