City health officials now report at least 30 probable cases of monkeypox.
Those who are eligible for the vaccine include all gay or bisexual men who have had multiple or anonymous sexual partners.
Although so far it is unknown why this community is the most affected, it is important to remember that monkeypox is not sexually transmitted and anyone could become infected by simple touch.
In response to those long lines, the Department of Health said, “The demand we’re seeing today is further proof of how proactive the LGBTQ+ community, and all New Yorkers, are when it comes to their health and seeking health care.” .
The entity also assures that it hopes to have more appointments available soon and is investigating how to increase the capacity of attention.
