The wise Spanish proverb tells us: prevention is better than cure. And it is applicable to the news about the advancement of the joint flu and covid vaccination campaign that this 2023 will be carried out from the end of September, starting with older people, risk groups and healthcare personnel. Last year the coverage in Yecla of this double vaccine was 64.24%. Although fortunately we are no longer in a pandemic, the accumulated incidence is low and the cases of coronavirus in the Altiplano are few (barely 30 at the close of this edition), any precaution is insufficient.
At the meeting of the Public Health Commission in which the Ministry of Health and the Communities are represented, it was decided to advance the campaign to the last days of September, but at the moment the exact start day in Murcia is not known. From the Ministry of Health they point out that “it is subject to the arrival of the necessary doses of the covid vaccine adapted to the new Ómicron subvariants.”
